What is Salt Therapy?

Understanding Salt Therapy
Salt Therapy is an ancient practice that was first used by the greeks as they believed salt to have expectorant values. More recently it has been a practice for Eastern European countries for the past few decades. It has evolved into a modern natural therapy for the cleansing of the airways. The inhalation of dry salt aerosol may provide beneficial effects for people suffering from respiratory and skin conditions. First commercialised in Poland after a Doctor by the name of Felix Boczkowski made a scientific observation that people who worked in the Wieliczka salt mine rarely suffered from respiratory problems, particularly asthma, COPD, hay fever and common respiratory illnesses.

Halotherapy

Halo Therapy is a treatment based on the inhalation of small salt particles with the purpose to clear the airways and clean the mucus membranes of the respiratory system. The salt particles act as a bronchiole brush, thinning out sticky mucus making it easier for the body to expel the pathogens, spores or debris trapped within the mucus.

The salt in the air not only coats the airways but will cover any exposed skin that is showing. With the salts natural antibacterial properties it can have a healing effect on areas of irritated skin such as acne, psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis.
